Professional Life
When Andy successfully sold his own franchise in 2007, it became clear he an aptitude for business advisory and Mergers & Acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Andy was an Auditor with Ernst & Young and spent three years as Controller for a multi-billion dollar publicly traded real estate conglomerate.
Over the next 4 years, Andy oversaw the valuation and transition of multiple acquisitions and all financial analysis and financial reporting functions, becoming the Director of Finance of a $100M division within a privately held information services company.
From 2011-2015, Andy provided outsourced CFO/Controller services to a portfolio of operating companies and private equity investments with services ranging from bookkeeping and financial reporting to strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, valuation, and audit management.
In 2015, Andy started working as an M&A Advisor, starting his own firm, Adena Business Advisors in January 2018. For his outstanding production in 2019, he was awarded the International Business Brokers Association’s Outstanding Producer and Deal Maker Awards.
Personal Life
A native of the Mid-Ohio Valley, Andy grew up in small towns bordering the Ohio River in Southeastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. He’s lived most of the last 20+ years in North Carolina, currently residing in the South Charlotte area with his wife and two children. In his spare time, Andy enjoys coaching baseball, playing cards, golfing, thinking about exercising, and cheering on his beloved Demon Deacons.
Adena’s Founding Principles
In 1964, Andy’s grandfather, Denzil L. Prather, started Adena Petroleum, Inc. in Parkersburg, WV. He ran his company like he lived his life...humbly and with integrity. While he made a good living for himself and his family, he lived modestly and was always generous with his time and money, dedicating his life to his church, his family, and his community and remaining aware of how fortunate he was and the obligation that this good-fortune placed upon him to help others in his community.
Adena Business Advisors is named after Andy’s grandfather’s company. Adena’s goal is to ensure that each and every party encountered throughout the business sale process, whether it’s buyers, sellers, or professional advisors, is treated honestly and with integrity…it’s a very simple practice that unfortunately has not prevailed in this industry.
